Urban Change

Via its programmes Open House has been engaging with the many places undergoing massive change in London through development and regeneration. Open House’s work focuses on places and neighbourhoods, helping Londoners and stakeholders understand how they can contribute to design quality through the development process. The fabric of our city speaks volumes about our values as a society – so to influence those who are creating London for present and future generations, Open House works directly with London’s communities to widen debate and deepen discussion.

For the Olympic Park and its legacy, for example, we’ve helped open the site up to Londoners through the Open House London weekend, worked with the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) on developing a nationwide education programme, involved our young My City Too Ambassadors in commenting on designs and advised the Arts and Culture Team of the Olympic Delivery Authority on commissioning artists.

For this Open House weekend as well as opening the Olympic site with Newham Council with booked tours, a number of housing exemplar schemes are included such as BedZED and the Donnybrook Quarter. For more details visit the Open House London pages.
