Green Sky Thinking

sustainability open houseNearly half of the UK’s energy consumption
comes from the ways in which are buildings
are lit, heated and used. Creating sustainable
solutions both for new build and retrofit are
therefore among the most urgent issues for built
environment professionals today. Examples in 2011 included 39 Parkholme Road, CityWest Homes Retrofit for the Future and Zero Carbon
Loft and Mayville Community Centre.

Our Green Sky Thinking initiative from 19 to 22 Sept was a packed and varied programme of talks, seminars, displays, roundtable discussions, installations and other activities – mostly taking place in practitioners’ own studios and offices – giving direct access to experts and some of their most innovative ideas in green building happening in the UK. More info here

We also have ideas for green and healthy ways to get around between buildings too, including our series of really handy walking and architecture mapguides of central areas showing Open House buildings. Produced in partnership with Transport for London, these can be downloaded here
